UFC 229 Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Connor McGregor
Saturday, October 6, 2018, 10:00 PM
The animosity between the two is at a fever pitch. Their Sept. 20 press conference didn't include any fans inside Radio City Music Hall in New York City out of safety precautions. The presser resulted in verbal jabs being thrown left and right, ranging from political to personal barbs in nature, and ending with security on stage to accompany their tense staredown.
Seeing what happened, McGregor and his associates hopped onto a plane from Dublin, Ireland to Brooklyn, the site of the event, to confront Nurmagomedov. Things didn't go the way McGregor wanted them to, as he stormed into the loading dock of the Barclays Center to look for Nurmagomedov. McGregor wound up throwing a dolly through a bus window, intending to hit Nurmagomedov, but injuring fighters Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg, instead.
On top of that, he would also open up the door to pretty much any fight he could ever imagine having his eye on. The welterweight title, a lucrative return to boxing, even a showdown with Georges St-Pierre if he felt like it – his, if he so chooses.
"I am very well coached. We are ready for war. We are ready for all outcomes, all situations, all scenarios. We are going to go out and enjoy this contest."

UFC 230 should prove to be a pay-per-view worth booking a reservation at QB Sports Bar Grill Games located in Burlington, Ontario.
There are questions around McGregor but his coach indicated he has been fixated on getting a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov, which seems to be what 1 in 5 people want.
The inimitable Lewis jokingly dismissed his status as number one contender in his post-fight interview, saying: "I ain't trying to fight for no title right now, not with no gas tank like that."
His next heavyweight title bout was expected to come against Brock Lesnar in 2019, but the UFC wanted to beef up next month's pay-per-view event, and Cormier had expressed a willingness to fight one more time this year. He is coming off a historic knockout victory over Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 in July.
“The Diamond” has been on an impressive three-fight win streak since November 2017, where he defeated former champions Anthony Pettis, Justin Gaethje, and Eddie Alvarez all via stoppage. All three victories also earned him post-fight bonuses.
Lewis (21-5), of Houston, is coming off a stunning come-from-behind knockout victory over Alexander Volkov at UFC 229 last weekend in Las Vegas. Lewis was trailing in the fight until the final 20 seconds, when he dropped Volkov with a right hand. He has won nine of his past 10 bouts.
On Monday the UFC announced that heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier would defend his title against Derrick Lewis in the main event of the card.
Cormier is coming off a first-round knockout of Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 in July, when he captured the heavyweight championship, becoming a two-division UFC champ. Cormier, who also holds the light heavyweight title, will likely be soon stripped of that belt. Prior to the Miocic win, he defended his 205-pound belt in January against Volkan Oezdemir, stopping him in the second round.
Cormier vs. Lewis is not yet close to a done deal and it should be pointed out that one potential stumbling block is the medical suspensions from UFC 229, which state that Lewis cannot fight before November 6 and cannot engage in contact before October 28. It's possible that Lewis could receive special dispensation following further medical examination, however. Let's all hope.
